Description
Manor Cottage, located in Frampton-on-Severn, is a building that dates back to the 15th century and was likely originally a small hall house. It was enlarged to the south in the 17th century to create one larger dwelling, which is now divided into two cottages. The right side, known as No 1, features large panel timber-framing with one long diagonal brace and plastered infill on a plinth. This section appears to have been raised above the original wall plate level and has a brick wing on the left, which is No 2. The building has a steeply pitched double Roman tile roof, which was originally thatched, and includes small brick stacks at the ends and at the left end of the original range, now positioned on the ridge above a very large stone base.
Originally designed as a hall house, it had service and parlour rooms to the right, with access beyond the left end stack. The structure has been extended to form an L-shape and stands two storeys tall. No 1 features scattered casements, while No 2 has two paired 6-pane casements and a single 3-light window with a cambered head on the ground floor. A central passageway leads to the original entrance of No 1, located behind the stack, and to No 2 on the left.
