Description
The gatepiers and gates to Frampton Court are located in Frampton-on-Severn and date from the mid-18th century. There are two pairs of gatepiers made of chamfered rusticated ashlar, standing on a plinth with a moulded cornice and topped with stone ball finials. Between the gatepiers, there are wrought iron gates that are approximately 4.5 meters high. The design is symmetrical, featuring plain stone strips that link to a brick wall with plain stone coping and plinths, which curve out to smaller piers of the same design, approximately 3 meters high. Each side of the wall includes a door with four fielded panels and two lower beaded panels, framed by a beaded stone architrave and a dropped triple keystone. The total width across the front is approximately 20 meters. Beyond the outer piers, the wall slopes down to connect with the perimeter wall of Frampton Court.
