Description
The Firs is a pair of adjoining houses built in the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of brick on a slag block plinth, topped with a tiled roof featuring coped verges and kneelers, along with brick end stacks and a central ridge stack. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves, with a stepped two-brick string course below. The main structure consists of two storeys and an attic, accompanied by small single-storey rear wings for each house and a lean-to on the left-hand side.
The front facade has four windows, with paired wooden casements on the first floor and 2-light wooden mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, all adorned with splayed brick voussoirs and a triple keystone. There are four gabled dormers, each featuring twin three-pane casements positioned high on the roofline. The doors for each house are centrally located, accessed by two stone steps, and consist of four fielded panels topped with a large projecting porch hood supported by brackets.
