Description
Ye Olde Cruck House and De Lacy Hall is an outbuilding located in Frampton-on-Severn, with its gable end facing the street. It is likely from the 16th century, most probably dating to the late 16th or early 17th century. The building is timber-framed with later painted brick infill, although not all of the frame is visible. It features an interlocking tile roof that is hipped towards the street and has a small brick stack at the eastern end.
The structure is a single range, consisting of one storey and an attic, with a lower section to the east. There are additional small later buildings forming an L-plan to the east, which are not of special interest. The façade includes two raking dormers with small paired casement windows at the eaves, and similar ground floor windows that alternate with four plank doors. To the far right, there is a large three-light window with a timber lintel. The lower wing to the left has a large gabled dormer featuring an 18th-century cast iron intersecting casement.
Inside, the building has four bays with upper crucks and a large flue to the east, which has an opening in the attics. Originally, this building served as a dwelling and more recently functioned as the village smoke house.
