Description

Buckholt Cottages is a row of three cottages located on the east side of The Street in Frampton-on-Severn, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The cottages are constructed of brick and feature a tiled roof with sections of glazed brick coping at the verges and kneelers, along with four brick stacks positioned at the ends and ridge. The structure is T-shaped, with No. 2 extending to the rear, and it comprises two storeys and an attic.

Architecturally, the cottages display a brick dentil course and a stepped two-brick string course below, as well as a two-brick string course between the floors. The central gable, which has kneelers and a small dentil pediment, rises from the dentil course and features a Venetian window with glazing bar sashes below, and a similar frame above that is inset with twin six-pane casements. On either side of the central element, there are two paired casements with painted splayed brick voussoirs and a stone keystone. The similar windows below include additional glazing bars on No. 1, and No. 2 has two small plate glass sashes flanking its door.

There are three doorcases centrally positioned between each pair of windows. Originally, all doors had four moulded recessed panels and were topped with small projecting pedimented hoods supported on consoles, although one element of each doorcase has been slightly altered. The returns of the cottages feature two plain glazed round oculi in the attic.
