Description

Buckholt House is a detached house located in Frampton-on-Severn, originally built in the mid-18th century. The house was enlarged to the south in the late 18th century and again to the south and rear in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick on a slag block plinth, except for the south bow front and east facade, and features a tile roof with a moulded brick cornice that is hipped to the south behind a parapet wall.

The house has a single range of two storeys and an attic, with a two-storey bow front to the south and a 19th-century extension to the left rear wing. The core of the building has three windows, which are 12-pane sashes with contrasting rubbed brick splayed voussoirs. Originally, there were two similar windows flanking a central doorcase, but the doorcase has been removed and replaced with a third window. There are three gabled tile-hung dormers with twin 6-pane casements, and a large 12-pane window on the first floor at the far right.

The doorcase has been moved to the south front, which features large 12-pane sashes with plain stone architraves and a keystone above the door and on the bow. The stone doorcase includes two attached unfluted Doric columns and a moulded open pediment, with a door of six flush panels set one stone step up, topped by a decorative radial fanlight recessed in a round-headed stone soffit. The back (east side) has similar fenestration to the bow front. Inside, there is a stick baluster stair with a swept handrail.
