Description

Beehive Cottage and Falfield Cottage comprise two cottages reputedly rebuilt in 1560 after a storm. The main section is in square panel timber framing, with some panels exposed on the rear, and the front is rendered. The later section of Falfield Cottage is in roughcast. Both cottages have tile roofs. Notable features include a large stepped external brick stack to the left return of Beehive Cottage, a brick ridge stack to the right, and a brick gable end stack to the street on Falfield Cottage.

The cottages form an L-shape and are two storeys in height. Beehive Cottage has twin 6-pane casement windows to the first floor, and a 3-light and a 2-light window to the ground floor, flanking a central plank door with a pedimented hood containing a plaster relief of a beehive on consoles. Internally, Beehive Cottage features large chamfered beams and an open bressumer fireplace against the external stack. Falfield Cottage has small, 19th-century leaded casement windows and access from its right-hand return.
