Description
The Grange is a large detached house located in Frampton-on-Severn, dating back to the early 17th century. It was refronted in the early 18th century and underwent alterations and enlargements to the side and rear in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped concrete tile roof on the main section, along with a large cruciform brick ridge stack and later scattered brick stacks. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves.
Originally designed as a single range lobby entry plan, the house has two storeys and attics, with additional wings at the rear and left side, mostly also two storeys high. The main front has four bays, featuring three 2-light leaded wood mullions and transoms with splayed brick voussoirs, and half-glazed double doors located beneath the stack, which was once accessed by a now-removed stair. The ground floor has similar fenestration but includes three-light flanking doors. There are three dormers on the roof: two are hipped and the central one is gabled, each with paired leaded casements. To the left, a small hipped wing has similar window designs and a large gabled 19th-century doorcase on its return.
The interior is reported to contain a room with early 17th-century carved panelling, a decorative plaster ceiling, and a 17th-century turned baluster stair, although it is not currently accessible for viewing.
