Description
The dovecote at Frampton Court, located in Frampton-on-Severn, is a mid-18th century structure that is still in use. It is built of ashlar stone on a plinth and features plat bands above the plinth and below the eaves of its stone slate roof. The dovecote has a raised octagonal glazed lantern topped with a tile roof and a stone ball finial. It has a tall, narrow octagonal shape with small pointed arch doorways on the northeast and southwest sides. The northeast doorway, which faces Frampton Court, has battening in an interlocking Y-tracery pattern and is adorned with a small stone coat of arms above it. Inside, there are blind pointed arches reaching up to the plat band level and pierced nest holes above. The base of a pole for a potence ladder is located in the center, although the ladder itself is not visible.
