Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb dating from the early 18th century, located approximately 5 meters east of the south porch door of the Church of St John the Evangelist. The tomb is made of limestone and features a cyma top, a cavetto base, and lyre ends with potti heads. It has a richly decorated north inscription panel in a cartouche, along with a potti and a square raised mould panel on the south side, which also includes potti. The inscription is badly worn, but one date may be 1707. This tomb is considered a very fine example of Cotswold funerary art, although it was leaning at the time of the survey.
