SO 70 SW SLIMBRIDGE ST JOHN'S ROAD 1/84B (east side)

Unidentified chest tomb c5 m east of south porch door of GV church of St John the Evangelist II*

Chest tomb. Early C18. Limestone. Cyma top, cavetto base, lyre ends with potti heads, and rich north inscription panel in cartouche, with potti, and square raised mould panel plus potti south side. Inscription badly worn, one date possibly 1707. A very fine example of Cotswold funerary art; leaning at time of survey.
