Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located approximately 2.5 meters south of the south tower wall at the Church of St John the Evangelist. It dates from the early 18th century or late 17th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a striking baroque design, characterized by a heavy cyma top and a partially sunk cavetto base. It has lyre-shaped ends adorned with elaborate cartouches, including putti heads on the west side and additional cartouches on the north and south sides. While there are remains of an inscription, it is mostly illegible. This tomb is a notable example of Cotswold baroque style.
