Description
Minchinhampton Stores is a shop and house located at the end of a row on High Street in Minchinhampton. The building dates from the early 19th century, with a possibly earlier rear wing. It is constructed from coursed and squared limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. The structure is two stories tall with an attic and has an attached two-story rear wing.
The front of the building has a single 16-pane sash window on each floor, with the upper floor window being smaller. There are two gabled attic dormers that contain small-pane timber casements. At the north end, the building has an angled end at a 45-degree angle, which includes an off-centre ground floor canted shop window bay and a 16-pane sash window above it. A plain band runs along the upper floor level. The gabled end chimney has a plain cap and is rhomboid in shape, creating an unusual spatial effect. The rear wing is likely older and features two single-light Tudor-arched casements in the gable end, one of which has a cinquefoil design. The interior has not been inspected.
