Description

No 18, which includes an adjoining shop, is a house and shop located on the east side of High Street in Minchinhampton. The building dates from the late 18th century, with the shop added in the early 19th century. The house is constructed of ashlar limestone, while the shop features painted stucco. The chimney is rebuilt in artificial stone, and the roof is covered with stone slates.

The house is three stories tall, while the shop is two stories. The front of the house, which is on the right, originally had five windows, but several are now blocked, and others have been replaced with later 19th-century four-pane sash windows. There is a doorway left of center with keyed plain architraves, although this doorway has been replaced by a fixed light. To the right, there is a round-arched former throughway with plain architraves, imposts, and a keystone, which is now infilled with a 20th-century glazed door. The building features alternating chamfered quoins and a plain band at the upper floor level. The chimney at the north end has been rebuilt, while another has been cut down.

The shop to the left has a full-height bow with 19th-century show window openings on the ground floor and three 12-pane sash windows above. The roof over the bow is sprocketted and brought forward. The interior has not been inspected.
