Description
Dark Lane House is a house attached to a shop, dating from the mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century addition to the rear. The building is constructed of ashlar limestone at the front and coursed rubble at the rear, featuring brick rebuilt chimneys and a concrete tile roof, with Welsh slate on the rear.
It is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-storey rear wing. The front facade has a three-window arrangement, all featuring three-light chamfered mullioned casements. On the ground floor, the windows alternate with two doorways: the left doorway has moulded architraves and a pediment with a pulvinated frieze, leading to a six-panel door, while the right doorway is now blocked and has plain beaded architraves. A plain band runs along the upper floor level, and there is a moulded eaves cornice. The house has three chimneys mounted on the ridge, and at the north end, there is a blocked doorway at the upper floor level and two blocked single-light windows in the attic.
At the rear, there is a central projecting wing with a large segmental archway and two-light casements on the north side. The main range features mullioned casements similar to those at the front. The interior has not been inspected.
