Description

Wickham Grange and Wickham House are a pair of houses attached to a later house to the west. The main building dates to the late 18th century, and likely incorporates an earlier 18th-century house, with alterations around 1830. The construction is of dressed and squared limestone, with ashlar facing on the bay and ashlar chimneys; the roof is covered in concrete tiles. The building has a three-storey, double-pile plan, with a three-storey wing to the rear.

The original front elevation was a plain five-window design. The central doorway has a Tuscan doorcase. The left two windows have been replaced by a two-storey segmental bow, which features two curved four-pane sashes in plain openings with louvred shutters. The upper floor retains six-pane sashes with plain architraves, while most other sashes have been altered to four-pane designs. Glazed doors are present on the ground floor. A decorative iron verandah has been added to the right of the bow. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the main elevation, and the bow also has an open balustraded parapet. The west side mirrors the front, with a moulded cornice and sash windows, although this is partially obscured by the adjacent West Wickham house.

The rear wing seems largely rebuilt in the 19th century with plain timber casement windows. A ridge-mounted chimney has a moulded cap, and an eaves-mounted chimney has a swept base to the rear of the main building. The front part of the interior was apparently totally remodelled internally when rebuilt, but has not been inspected.
