Description

Parkhill Cottage and Cornerways are two attached houses built in the late 18th century, with an addition made in the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble limestone with brick chimneys and a stone slate roof. The houses are two storeys with an attic, and the rear wing creates an L-shaped plan.

The west front, facing Cow Lane, has a two-window arrangement. It features chamfered mullioned windows with a continuous hoodmould on the ground floor; a two-light casement to the left and a four-light casement to the right. Above, there are three-light casements with leading. A central doorway has a stone lintel and a six-panel fielded door. A small central gable sits above. Two gabled roof dormers with 19th-century casements are present. Brick chimneys are located at the gable end.

The south side includes a single-storey wing with a cellar, featuring a door and casement, both with stone lintels. An attic section has two gabled eaves-mounted dormers with 20th-century casements. A central doorway is flanked by segmental arched 20th-century casements. A rendered addition to the right features single-window 20th-century fenestration. The interiors were not inspected, but Parkhill Cottage is said to be largely unrestored.
