Description
Giddynap is a detached house dated 1710, located on Gydnap Lane in Minchinhampton. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone with ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic and features a single-storey rear wing that also has an attic.
The front of the house showcases three full gables and has a three-window arrangement. The windows are three-light chamfered mullioned casements on both the ground and upper floors, each with continuous drip moulds and relieving arches. The attic features a two-light casement with a hoodmould in each gable. The central doorway is adorned with a moulded stone architrave and a fine shell hood supported by elaborately carved brackets. The date and initials of the original owner are inscribed on the door lintel, which has a panelled door. There are flanking single-light windows, and the gable ends have a similar single-window arrangement as the front.
At the rear, the two outer gables have 19th-century rebuilt chimneys with plain caps, and the lower gabled rear wing displays mullioned fenestration. The interior has not been inspected. The initials on the doorway belong to John Webb, a clothier who died in 1754, and his wife, Anne. There are also contemporary gate piers to the southwest.
