Description
West End Stores is a house with an attached shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar limestone with random rubble on the sides and shop, and features rebuilt chimneys made of ashlar and concrete block. The roofs are covered with stone slate and concrete tiles. The building has three stories, with a two-story rear wing and a single-story shop on the east side.
The front of the building has a three-window arrangement, with 12-pane sash windows on the ground and middle floors, and a central 6-pane window on the upper floor, although the outer sashes have been replaced with metal casements. There is a central doorway with plain architraves, featuring a 6-panel fielded door and a rectangular light above it. A sill band is present at the middle floor level, and there are gable end chimneys. The shop to the right is built of plain rubble and has a 3-light timber shop window. The rear wing includes a west-facing ground floor casement and a 6-pane sash window above. The interior has not been inspected.
