Description
Emersley is a detached house, part of which was formerly a shop, built in the early 19th century. It features random rubble limestone construction with ashlar and artificial stone chimneys, topped by a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and includes a two-story projecting front wing, along with an attached outbuilding at the rear.
The front of the house has three windows on the upper floor, all of which are sash windows with stone lintels; the central window has 12 panes, while the outer windows have 16 panes each. There is a roughly central doorway with a ribbed door and a decorative light above it. To the left of the doorway is a 16-pane sash window, and to the right is a shop window with a doorway below a timber fascia. The projecting wing has timber casements, and a doorway on the south side is grouped with a casement under a combined timber lintel. The gable ends have chimneys, including one on the front gable of the wing. The upper floor of the wing features a casement window, with the northwest corner being rounded.
The two-story outbuilding at the rear has a single north-facing segmental arched casement window on each floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building occupies an important position at a road junction.
