Description

This is a milestone located on Gloucester Road in Painswick, dating from around 1726.

It is made of local limestone and features iron plates. The milestone stands approximately 1 meter high and has a square shape. The top is pyramidal but has weathered over time. On the roadside face, there are two iron plates, one positioned above the other. Both plates are painted white, with the lettering highlighted in black paint. The smaller upper plate is inscribed with "VI," while the lower plate reads "Miles to / Glocefter."
