Description

Rookery Farmhouse is a farmhouse that originated in the 17th century and was later extended with two wings at the rear, likely during the 18th century. The north front features random coursed sandstone, while the rear is constructed from rubble stone. The extensions to the right are made of coursed rubble, and the left side includes random coursed and snecked stone with some brick. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, and there are mainly brick chimneys.

The building has a U-shaped layout with a lobby entry plan and a projecting gabled stair tower at the center of the U. The front has four bays, with three windows featuring three and four-light casements that have wooden lintels. The left end bay is designated for agricultural use, while the remaining three bays serve as the house, with a centrally placed door in front of the main stack. The door is made of tongued and grooved boards set in a wide moulded opening, and there is a dilapidated 19th-century trellis porch.

At the rear, the stair tower has a small two-light stone mullion window at the base and two single light windows higher up. The brick wing to the left has been connected to the stair gable to create an arched entrance featuring a six-panel door, with the top four panels being glazed. The right side has a stone wing with altered fenestration and an external stack on the right return. The interior of the farmhouse has not been inspected.
