Description
Tremahaid Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered sandstone rubble and has slate roofs. The original layout was L-shaped, with the main section aligned northwest to southeast and a wing extending to the northeast at the northwest end. An 18th-century extension to the northwest created a T-shaped plan.
There is a large axial stack at the junction of the wings and another stack at the southeast gable end. Entrances are located in both angles of the "T" and there is an additional entrance to the south of the southeast front. The farmhouse has two storeys with altered window arrangements. The main entrance, located at the north angle, features two square-headed windows with 2-light casements to the right. The northwest wing has a 3-light metal framed window from the 20th century to the left, while the northeast wing has a partly-glazed door with steps leading up to the doorway at the northwest gable end. A 4-light stone mullioned window with moulded jambs remains intact in the northeast wing.
Inside, there are exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beams. The added northwest wing includes a granary on the first floor and a wash house below.
