Description

This is a milepost located about a quarter of a mile south of the Church of St Mary, dating from the mid- to late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a V-section shape with a wider upper part designed for inscriptions. The top is chamfered and inscribed with "Llanrothal Parish." The left side features raised lettering that reads "To Pontrilas 11 Miles," while the right side states "To Monmouth 3 Miles." It is noted that the distance to Monmouth is in country miles, with the actual distance being closer to four miles.
