Description
St Wolstan's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a roof that is partly covered with stone slates and partly with modern materials. The building is single-depth with a rear outshut and a catslide roof, oriented east to west and facing south. There are two lateral stacks at the rear, which are enclosed by the outshut located west of the central entry. The farmhouse has undergone some changes, including 20th-century extensions to the west.
The structure stands two storeys high with an attic and has altered window arrangements. It features four windows with modern 2-light glazing bar windows and concrete lintels. There are traces of a former blocked window with a cambered head on the first floor, located west of the centre. The west side has a 20th-century ledged door and two stone buttresses. The 20th-century extension is single storey with an attic and has two similar windows. A large stack on the east side has two partly rebuilt diagonal plain shafts, while an early 19th-century square plan stack is located on the west side. There was a former gable entry to the west with a cambered head, which is now blocked and obscured by the extension.
