Sellarsbrooke

Sellarsbrooke is a country house villa dated 1795, with early 19th century remodelling and 20th century additions. The building is constructed of rendered stone and features hipped slate roofs. It has an irregular plan that is broadly two rooms deep, with a central entrance and stairwell, and end stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a facade with a 1:3:1 bay arrangement, featuring glazing bar sash windows. A central pediment with giant Tuscan order pilasters is obscured by an Ionic portico that was added in 1970. The central doorway is elliptical headed and includes a decorative overlight and sidelights, along with a six-panelled door. Inside, the villa retains fine plastered ceilings and an impressive elliptical staircase that is illuminated by a central cupola.
