Description
Acacia Cottage is an early 19th century villa that has been altered and extended in the 20th century. The house features painted, stuccoed walls and a slate hipped roof. It has a rectangular plan that was originally composed of four cells but has been extended at the rear.
The building stands two storeys tall and has two chimneys topped with clay pots. The exterior includes sash windows with glazing bars set in box frames. The entrance front, facing south, has two bays and features a round plaque with mythological figures in relief at the center of the first floor. The central entrance door consists of six flat panels and is flanked by panelled pilasters. Above the door is a patterned fanlight set under an elliptical arch, with a flat hood supported by latticed columns.
Inside, the ground floor contains two 19th century fireplaces. One fireplace has a cast-iron fluted surround, while the other features a fluted wooden surround with paterae in the corners.
