Description

South Lodge is an early 18th-century lodge, originally serving Binfield Park (listed separately), which was re-fronted in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. It is now a house. The building is timber-framed and encased in painted roughcast, with a slate gabled roof, including a catslide at the rear over a pent extension. The plan is based on a two-cell layout.

The two-storey, symmetrical south-east facing front has a low plinth and two bays. It has two-light casement windows in flush frames with an ogee head above a transom, each with a moulded stucco ogee hoodmould above. The central door has a moulded ogee head and comprises two glazed and two fielded panels. A half-glazed, gabled porch was added in the early 20th century. The building has projecting end chimneys with clay pots. The interior has not been inspected.
