Description
Kicking Donkey is a house dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features a combination of part timber frame with brick infill and part brick constructed in Flemish bond, topped with an old tile gabled roof.
The house has a rectangular, two-cell plan with a pent roof over a rear outshut. It stands two storeys high and has two gable projecting chimneys with large weathered bases and corniced tops; the chimney on the right includes a tall clay pot. The exterior showcases 19th-century casement windows. The entrance is on the south front, which has a dentilled brick cornice and is arranged in three bays. On the first floor, there are two three-light casement windows, while the ground floor features two two-light casement windows with large rectangular panes, set beneath cambered-arched brick heads. To the right of centre, there is an early 20th-century partly glazed door in a plain wooden frame, topped with a plain flat hood.
Inside, the house has a queen post roof with clasped purlins and two chamfered beams on the ground floor, which have lamb's tongue stops.
