5/3 The Manor House
GV II
House. Probably C17. Altered mid-C19 and early C20. Rendered stone, slate roof. Main (earlier) range aligned north/south facing east with later parallel rear range extending further to south to adjoin at rear of Ganarew Farmhouse (qv, aligned east/west). Early C20 forward projecting extension to north of main range; end stacks and single shaft lateral stack to south of entrance; main range slightly to north of centre. Two storeys and attic; irregular fenestration; 5 mid-C19 3-light and 2-light casements to first floor, one 4-light and two 5-light casements with transom lights to ground floor, 4 gabled dormers with 2-light casements, dormers and ground floor windows all with Gothic glazing bar design, leaded lights throughout; C20 extension to right (north) ends in 2-storey bow window with casements, gabled porch with decorative barge board detail, partly-glazed door. Gable end stacks with diagonally placed shafts, two to left and three to right. Interior: imported panelling, some sections of C17 date in room to right of entrance, blocked 3-light stone mullioned window in rear wall of first floor room above.
