Description

Greenway Farmhouse is a ruinous farmhouse with a late 16th century south cross-wing and an early 18th century north wing. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with squared dressed rubble dressings and has a local stone slate roof, which was partly fallen in during the last survey in October 1984. The 18th century range is aligned north to south, with the cross-wing extending east to west to the south. It features a through-passage, a rear external stack on the north wing, and an axial stack on the cross-wing. The 18th century wing is single storey with an attic, while the cross-wing has two storeys, an attic, and a basement.

On the west front, there is one 2-light casement window and one 4-light casement window, both with segmental heads, and traces of a gabled dormer above. The door has an 18th century wooden frame. The gable end of the cross-wing to the south includes a 3-light casement and glazing bar sash windows below, with brick flat arches. The south return features 2- and 3-light stone mullioned windows and a chamfered doorway. Inside, there are traces of plank and muntin panelling on the first floor of the 16th century wing, along with further timber-framed partitions. Additionally, there is a late 19th century cast iron range in the 18th century wing.
