Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with some 18th-century alterations. It is constructed of rubble stone and features stone slate roofs. The building has two storeys and includes a central crosswing with a principal range to the east, which is likely an 18th-century rebuild on the site of an earlier hall. There is a west wing that serves as a 19th-century service range, rebuilt on the ground floor of an earlier structure.

The crosswing displays heavy cornerstones, a coped gable with a saddlestone, an upper 16-pane sash window, and a ground floor door that has a 20th-century stone slate hood. To the right of the door is a renewed cross window. A massive side-wall stack is adjacent to a chamfered single light window. The rear of the crosswing features a Tudor-arched doorway on the west side, which has been converted into a window, and an early mullion window in the rear wall that is now concealed by a lean-to.

The main range to the right is rendered and has ridge and end stacks. It includes a door set in a 19th-century ashlar gabled porch, with a one-window range of triple casements to the left and a two-window range of 12-pane sashes in flush surrounds to the right. At the rear left, there is a gabled stair tower with an 18-pane thick glazing bar sash. To the left of the crosswing, there is a two-storey range with three windows, a west end stack, and casement windows; the upper floor is from the 19th century while the ground floor stonework is earlier.

Inside the crosswing, there are deep chamfered beams on the first floor and a fine three-bay windbraced roof featuring tie-beam and angle-strut trusses.
