Description
Broom Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1674, constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with 20th-century tiled roofs. It has a rectangular plan with five bays, aligned northwest to southeast and facing southwest. The building features a central projecting porch, two lateral stacks at the rear, and a later inserted stack on the southwest side. It stands two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and a lower projecting two-storey gabled porch at the center. The fenestration is irregular, primarily consisting of three-light casements. To the right of the porch, there are two ground floor windows with 20th-century glazing bar sashes. The porch has a small gable light and a three-light casement on the first floor, along with traces of a flat label above a four-centred arched doorway that has a square-headed surround. Above the doorway is a datestone inscribed with "1674" and the initials "G/W M" within a shield. The inner doorway features a moulded architrave and a ledged door. The porch is notably spacious inside and has blocked side windows.
