Description

Catsbury Cottage is a 17th-century house that features a timber-framed structure with brick nogging set on a stone plinth and topped with a thatched roof. The building has two bays and a central chimney, rising two stories with the upper level incorporated into the roof. The front, which faces the approach, showcases three panels of high timber-framing, with angle-braces supporting the tie-beam, collar, and rails in the truss, along with queen and angle struts beneath the half-hip.

The ground floor includes a centrally located boarded door that has been inserted and is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber porch. To the right of the door, there is a two-light timber casement window, and another window is located in the center of the gable above. A lean-to extension is set back on the right side of the building, featuring a boarded door that connects to the original structure. At the rear, a brick chimney is positioned against the central truss in the back bay. Inside, the rear room on the ground floor reveals an exposed chamfered beam and joists with stepped stops. The original entrance to the front bay on the right side has been blocked by a 20th-century cupboard.
