Description

Wold Edge is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Cook's Hill in Hartpury. The building features a timber-framed structure with brick nogging, while the end bay is faced with boarding and corrugated iron. It has a brick chimney and gable, with a slate roof on the house and a corrugated iron roof on the store extension.

The farmhouse consists of three bays and is a single storey with attics or loft space. The back facade facing the lane reveals two bays of exposed timber-frame, with three panels high and straight braces connecting the main post to the wallplate. There is a 20th-century metal window in the left bay on the ground floor, and a four-pane wooden window in the right bay. The third bay serves as a store, partially obscured by a 19th-century brick lean-to extension. Above the second bay, there is a lean-to dormer featuring a four-pane wooden window.

On the left gable, there is a large brick chimney that extends outside the body of the house and tapers in brick. This side also includes a later lean-to brick extension with a corrugated iron roof, and the roofline has been raised. The right gable has double boarded doors on the left, with the wall faced in butt-jointed boarding and the gable covered in corrugated iron, along with a boarded door positioned left of centre. The entrance to the house is located on the side opposite the lane, and it is likely that the roof was originally thatched.
