Description

The Hall monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 10 meters southeast of the north gate to Bell Lane at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from 1837 and is made of stone. The monument features a pyramid top with a step leading to a flat lid that has a moulded edge. The sides of the tomb have indented corners, which are also reflected in the lid and plinth.

The frieze includes two sets of triple flutings on either side of a patera. The west face has an oval panel framed by a projecting moulded chain of leaves, while the north and south sides are flat with an outline of a shield formed by a groove. The east side has a raised panel adorned with a spray of leaves over the top half. The plinth has a moulded top and is set on a flat slab base at ground level.

Part of the initial inscription has weathered away, but it reads, ".... son of .... and Sarah Hall," who died in 1837. Richard Hall died in 1851, and his wife passed away in 1870.
