Description
There are two chest tombs belonging to the Hall family located in the churchyard of St. Peter, five meters south of the south transept. Both tombs are made of limestone.
The first tomb is dedicated to James Hall, who died in 1755, and Richard Hall, who died in 1785. It features a moulded base, a cornice lid, and a moulded top. The inscription panel on the north side is surrounded by carved foliage and flanked by pilasters with carved foliage scrolls and cherub heads. The south side has a moulded inscription panel with moulded pilasters and moulded end panels.
The second tomb is for James Hall, with a death date of 176(?). It also has a moulded base, a cornice lid, and a moulded top. The inscription panel on the south side includes a shaped cartouche with a foliage scroll border, two winged cherub heads, and asymmetrical foliage pilasters of different styles. There is a similar inscription cartouche on the west end, while the north side has a worn inscription slab with triple-fluted pilasters and a moulded east panel.
