Description
Park Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse, dated 1741 as indicated by a plaque. It is constructed of limestone, faced in ashlar on the front and right side, with the remainder built of rubble. The roof is made of stone slate and features flanking chimneys with 20th-century brick shafts. The building has an L-plan layout, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a double front facing south.
The front of the farmhouse has a rubble stone plinth with moulded coping, a raised first floor band-course, and quoins. It also features a moulded stone eaves cornice and coped gables, with the rear gable topped by a ball finial. The ground floor has four-pane sash windows, while the first floor has two-light barred wooden casements and a smaller two-light leaded casement in the center. The central entrance is a 19th-century six-panelled door with a semi-circular radiating fanlight, decorative fan ornament in the spandrels, and a semi-circular stone hood supported by shaped stone brackets. All front openings are topped with stone lintels that have keyblocks.
On the right side of the building, there is a date plaque on the gable end, along with a two-bay rear wing that has two-light wood and metal casements beneath wooden lintels. This wing also features two gabled dormers with paired leaded casements and a half-glazed door to the left, which is topped by a semi-circular stone hood. At the far end of the wing, there is a later rubble stone bay with three-light casements, which was formerly used as a bakehouse and store. There is an outshot at the rear of the south wing and a 20th-century conservatory in the rear angle.
Inside, the farmhouse retains contemporary staircases, with the main staircase featuring three turned balusters per tread, a moulded handrail, and pendants, while the back stairs include winders.
