Description

The Old Rectory Farmhouse is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations and extensions in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of dressed limestone to the front, with the remainder of the building in coursed rubble. The roof is covered in stone slates, with ridge chimneys rebuilt in dressed stone during the 20th century. The original building is a single range with a projecting stair turret to the centre of the rear flank, which is flanked by 19th-century lean-to extensions. Single-storey extensions extend from each gable end.

The house has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The windows are 20th-century metal casements, with three lights flanking two lights, each set within a flat stone arch. There are three 20th-century gabled roof dormers with sash windows. The central doorway has a half-glazed door with an open stone pediment hood supported on shaped stone scroll brackets. A single-storey 20th-century extension is set back to the right, featuring a loggia.

The rear of the house has a central gabled stair turret with two-light stone mullion windows below Tudor hood moulds to the upper floors. A 20th-century flat-roofed lobby extension is attached to the ground floor. The flanking lean-to extensions have casements to the ground floor and small paired sashes to the first floor.

Inside, a ground floor room to the left has a fireplace with dressed stone jambs and lintel. Later stairs have been installed.
