Description

This is a detached house, dating from the mid-17th century, with extensions and alterations from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The main body of the building is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, while a later range at the rear is of painted brick. The roof is covered in artificial stone slates, with ashlar stacks, though these have been reduced in height. The house has a 'T' shaped plan, with a lean-to addition at the rear right, and a kitchen range dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, set at a right angle to the rear left. It is two storeys and has an attic, which is lit by four gabled dormers with leaded panes.

The front facade is symmetrical and has five windows, featuring double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods over the first-floor windows. The ground floor windows are 2-light steel casements with leaded panes. A projecting central porch, dating from the 19th century, has a four-panelled front door with glazed upper panels, set within a flat-chamfered surround with a flattened ogee curved head. Hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements are found in the stairs projection. Flat coping is present at the gable ends of the main building, and there are gable-end stacks.

Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer beam and a small single-light window with a flat-chamfered stone surround. A moulded Tudor-arched stone fireplace is also present. A fine two-flight open-well staircase with barley-twist balusters is located within the stairs projection.
