Description
Ardens Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse featuring Flemish bond brickwork set on an ashlar plinth, topped with a clay-tiled roof. The building is two-and-a-half storeys high and three windows wide, with a depth of two rooms. At the rear, there is a catslide roof, and a wing extends at right angles. The facade includes four-pane wide sash windows that are evenly spaced but slightly offset to the left. Each window has stone sills and stepped stone voussoirs. The front door is a six-panel design, with the lower panels fielded and the upper panels glazed. It is topped by a steep segmental hood supported by brackets, featuring fretwork infill at the front. The eaves have a dentil course, with two oversailing courses below the dentils, which are concealed by a fascia. There are chimneys on each gable, integrated within the building's envelope, and the right-hand gable is constructed of random-rubble stone.
