Description
The Knight monument is a chest tomb located about 3 meters south of the east end of the south aisle of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels in Abenhall. It commemorates John Knight, who died in 1800. The tomb is made of stone and features a flat lid with a moulded edge. Surrounding the lid is a vertical leaf frieze. The sides of the tomb have raised rectangular panels with moulded edges and scalloped corners that contain stylized flowers. The ends are adorned with elongated rectangular gadrooned balusters topped with fluted capitals. The entire structure rests on a base with a cavetto top. Additional inscriptions on the monument date up to 1846.
