Description

The Knight monument is a pedestal tomb located about 2 yards north-east of the north-east corner of the Church of St Mary. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of finely cut sandstone. The tomb has a triangular plan set on a large circular plinth, featuring a moulded base and cornice topped with a low hipped capping. Fluted pilasters at the corners have scrolls at their tops. The inscription commemorates Ursula Knight, who died in 1777, and her sister, Barbara, who died in 1780. The circular plinth includes sockets for former railings.
