Description
The Old Rectory is a detached house built in the second quarter of the 19th century. It is constructed from well-squared grey sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has a two-storey L-plan layout, with a single-storey infill at the angle. The front is symmetrical, with a slightly recessed narrow centre that is three windows wide. The windows are three-light mullions and have hoodmoulds. The front door, located in the centre, consists of five vertical panels and has a plain fanlight above, set within a 4-centred arch that has a recessed spandrel and a flat head, also with a hoodmould above. There are two gables above, each with shaped bargeboards, and the centre section is finished with a string course and crenellations. On each side of the building, behind the main roof and parallel to the front, are two diagonally-set ashlar chimney stacks. The Old Rectory is included in the listing for its group value.
