Description
The former stables and granary at Hartsbarn Farm, dating from the 18th century, are now used as a store. The building is constructed from thin random rubble and features a slate roof. It has three bays and two storeys. The boarded door is slightly to the right of centre, with a shuttered opening above that leads to the loft. To the right, there is a shuttered window with a heavy timber frame, both the window and the door have timber lintels and plain stone hoodmoulds. To the left, there is a wide later opening. A dog-leg flight of steps leads to the right-hand gable, where there is a door similar to the one on the ground floor. The roof structure includes one truss with two collars and another with a tie beam and collar, which has been cut by the door frame and reinforced by braces to the beam below. There are two pairs of purlins and a square ridge. This building is included for its group value, as it faces onto the front garden of the house.
