Description
Brook Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Monmouth Road in Longhope. The front and rear elevations are rendered, while the right-hand gable is constructed of brick in an indeterminate bond. The roof is tiled and the building features a lobby entry plan with a projecting porch.
The main facade includes a gabled porch room supported by piers, with a 3-light timber casement window on the side. Below the porch is a boarded front door, and to the left, there are 3-light timber casements on both floors, which are not aligned; the upper casement has an iron opening light. To the side, there is a one-bay random-rubble stone extension, with a 2-light window on each floor.
A central chimney rises from the ridge, with the top rebuilt in the 19th century using brick. There are no windows on the main front to the right of the porch. The gable features a single light window in the loft, a 3-light timber-framed casement with a cambered brick lintel on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there were originally two narrower windows, one of which is blocked and the other has been enlarged. The interior has not been inspected.
