Description
The Shoe Shop is a shop and house built in the first quarter of the 19th century. It features rendered stone and a slate roof. The building is two rooms long and two stories high, with attics. It has two windows facing Millend, but none on the side that returns to Hawkers Hill, and it has a rounded corner at the road junction. The late 19th-century shop front on the corner includes plate-glass windows. On Millend, there is one four-pane wide sash window with shutters, a late 20th-century door beyond it, and a small sash window. The first floor has two four-pane wide sash windows, and there is a two-light casement window in the dormer above, which has a lean-to roof. The roof is hipped at the corner and features lead hips. A stone chimney stack is located against the rear facade. Inside, there is a spiral timber stair. The building is listed mainly for its group value with the properties on Millend.
