Description

Stenders Cottage is an early 19th-century detached house situated on the south side of Mitchedean. The house has a plain stone plinth, walls finished with wet dash render, and a slate roof. It is two windows wide and three stories high, with a gable facing the road.

The front of the house, which faces the garden, is symmetrical. The central entrance has a six-panel door with the upper four panels fielded and the lower two flush. Above the door is a semi-circular fanlight with a small surrounding light. The door surround is plain with blocks at the springing and is sheltered by a gabled porch with trellis sides and fretwork bargeboards, topped with a pendant at the apex, all under a slate roof. Four-pane sash windows are situated on either side of the ground and first floors, with plain painted surrounds and projecting fluted keystones. The window surround to the second floor is similar, but it encloses a two-light casement window. Brick chimney stacks are present within the building's roofline.
