Description
Westview is a mid to later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a rectangular plan and a piend roof, which includes an attached single-storey shop. The structure is built from dressed, squared, and snecked rubble, featuring raised quoins and stone cills, along with an eaves course and stone mullions.
The west elevation, which serves as the house entrance, is symmetrical. It has a deep-set, panelled timber door with a two-leaf fanlight at the center, framed by a corniced doorway supported by scroll brackets. There are windows in the flanking bays, although the left window is blocked, and the first floor has regular fenestration.
On the east elevation facing Haughmill Lane, there are windows in the outer bays at ground level, with the right window blocked, and a stair window in the center. The first floor features a window to the right of center and an altered bipartite window to the left.
The north elevation, which faces Milton Road and includes the shop, is symmetrical and features a projecting single-storey, flat-roofed shop. At the center is a part-glazed timber door set within a pedimented doorcase, with a cornice that extends over the flanking bays to diminished outer pediments. There are two-part display windows on either side of the door. Above the blank face of the house, there is a dominant shouldered wallhead stack.
The house has timber sash and case windows with a four-pane glazing pattern and plate glass glazing, while the shop features plate glass display windows. The roof is covered with modern concrete tiles, and the chimney stacks are coped and shouldered, some with polygonal cans.
The boundary wall consists of semicircular coped rubble, with square ashlar corniced gatepiers topped with pyramidal coping and a cast iron overthrow.
