Description
The Powell monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 9 meters north of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It commemorates Elizabeth Powell, who died in 1822, and is made of stone. The tomb features a square center with semi-circular ends and is topped with a square dome that has a small roll, cavetto moulding, a roll, and an upstand. Each end has half cyma domes. The main lid has a moulded edge, and the sides include raised oval panels for lettering, which are bordered with egg-and-dart edge moulding and corner paterae. The ends are adorned with a fluted frieze, a horizontal oval, and a moulded base, all resting on a moulded plinth.
