Description

The monument to Mary Hook is located in the churchyard, about 1 metre south of the southeast corner of the choir vestry of the Church of St Mary. This late 18th-century pedestal tomb is made of sandstone. It features an urn on a fluted domical top, resting on a square slab with inset corners, a moulded edge, and a fluted frieze. The east and west sides have panels with rosettes, while the south side is adorned with laurel embellishments. The monument has a moulded base on a plinth and a flat slab. The inscription commemorates Mary Hook, who died in 1794, and also includes an inscription for Hannah Hook, who died in 1819.
